Dr. David Hanson's Obituary
Dr. Dave Hanson September 23, 1952 - October 5, 2018 Dave Hanson, a nice person, was a Patches Pal and a Penny Pal. He attended Puyallup High School and Pacific Lutheran University. As a teen Dave learned stage magic, puppetry, and showmanship from the elders of the Tacoma Magic Club. Embracing entertainment, he later did talk radio, lounge singing, ventriloquism, and stand-up comedy. Dave spent years working in the funeral business. Always an educator, Dave taught what interested him: Reiki, selling funeral plans, hypnosis, metaphysics, ghost hunting with electronic devices, and therapeutic tapping techniques. Eventually his focus was mediumship, helping folks connect with loved ones who have passed on. For fun he led ghost-hunting tours at Ashley House, a New Orleans hotel. Hanson loved show tunes, Pekingese rescue dogs, diner food, Dame Edna, UFO research, Monty Python, Stan Boreson, Jeff Dunham, Dr. Who, ice cream, and telling stories. Dave is survived by his trusty dog, Spirit, and humanity. Thanks go to Dr. Jared Baeten at the UW, and the Pulmonary Intensive Care Unit at Tacoma General Hospital. The Celebration of Dave's Fabulous Life will be Sunday, October 28, 2-5 pm, at the Tacoma First United Methodist Church, 621 Tacoma Ave. South. Donations for the on-site food and clothing bank are encouraged. Donations to the Pierce County AIDS Foundation PCAF (www.piercecountyaids.org) are appreciated.
