David Olaf Hansen's Obituary
David Olaf Hansen passed away after a brief illness on April 4, 2019, in the company two of his three daughters. He was proceeded in death by his wife of 59 years, Mary Anne, as well as brothers Arnold and Harold and sisters Donna May and Helen. David is survived by his daughters, Patricia Hansen, Karen Lanphere and Robin Hansen; sisters, Ellida and Elaine; brother, Thor; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was born on May 11, 1937, in Tacoma, Washington, to May Belle (Potter) and Olaf Magnus Hansen, originally from Skarmunken, Norway.
David was proud to have served his country for 20 years after enlisting in the US Air Force in 1954. David and Mary Anne married on February 25, 1958. He received an honorable discharge from the Air Force in 1974 and the family moved back home to Washington, settling in Eatonville. David went on to operate the AA Auto Parts store in Lakewood, Washington, for about a decade and then retired from the workforce. David’s lifelong passion was flying RC planes. David was a member of the Mount Rainier Remote Control Society AMA #648, and he built, flew, and collected (and crashed) several model planes over the years.
