David R Darling's Obituary
David Richard Darling
1/29/39 – 7/31/13
David (Dave) Darling, Sr., of Bremerton, Washington, formerly of Anchorage, Kenai and Juneau, Alaska, passed away at his home on July 31, 2013, after a six-month illness.
Dave was the youngest of three children born to Francis and Dorothy (Pugh) Darling. He married Lorelei and had a son, David Jr., and a daughter, Davina, who sadly survived only one day. He later married Cindy. They eventually parted after 24 years, but remained close friends.
Dave enjoyed a long career in the insurance industry, working in Seattle WA, San Francisco CA, Goldendale WA, Soldotna AK and Juneau AK. He eventually tired of Alaska’s long winters and retired to Bremerton WA, where he met many new friends and enjoyed the comparatively balmy seasons. He was able to travel and check-off the important things on his “bucket list”. Dave leaves behind his best friends Gerald and Carolyn Jackson of Juneau, with whom he built many fond memories and experienced many exciting adventures, and who were “family” to him, brother Robert (Shirley), nephew Ron, nieces Candy and Nancy and their respective spouses, many great-nieces and nephews, close friends with whom he shared special relationships, and countless other people whose lives he touched. His former father-in-law once said that if there were more people like Dave in this world, it would be a much better place. No truer words could be spoken.
Dave is predeceased by his paternal and maternal grandparents, parents, sister Barbara, former wife Lorelei, son David Jr., daughter Davina, and former father-in-law Ed. At his request there were no services. Dave was laid to rest at Mountain View Cemetery in Lakewood, WA beside his son and daughter.
