David Allen Montgomery's Obituary
David Allen Montgomery, a resident of Port Orchard, passed away from cancer at the age of 58 on Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at Madigan Army Medical Center.Dave was born August 15, 1945, to Forrest & Peggy Montgomery, in Newark, Ohio. The son of a military man, he spent most of his youth in Washington. In 1965 Dave enlisted in the United States Navy. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer after twenty years of honorable and dedicated service. Following his naval career Dave worked as a tow truck driver for nearly a decade. In his free time he enjoyed working on cars. The restoration of a 1969 XKE Jaguar convertible was one of his proudest accomplishments. Later in his life, Dave also developed an interest in computers.He is remembered by his family as a stern but loving father. Forged in part by his military service, Dave was a respected leader Â- a man of character beyond reproach. His daughters were the light of his life.He is survived by his twin daughters, Laura & Kristina Montgomery; parents, Al & Peggy Gehrke of Spokane; brothers, Ray Montgomery of Oklahoma and Robert Montgomery of Indiana; sister, Karen Croff of Spokane; and many other loving family members.Dave was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Ann Montgomery, in 1982.A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 17, 2004, at the Mt. View Celebration of Life Center, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd SW.
