One of my best friends while growing up in Oakland. Fun times with Dave, Gary Gilman, Gary Howard, Kirt Swallason, and others. I lost track of Dave. I last saw him at Safeway on 56th Street. Oh David I finally found you after so very many years of searching for
You , but this way of finding you is breaking my heart, I've tried about all I could think of to find you since back before Jerry passed in 1994,
your probably laughing at me being so emotional but you were a man so unlike any other , so kind, always had a shoulder to cry on , you must have made ( as I see you had children ) your special lady very happy , Oh david I would so love to meet your children , to give them a hug because they are a part of you . One man that wrote on your wall explaining how you stood there with your hands on your hips so sober faced and then bust out laughing just brought back so many memories of us as kids in Oakland Addition , bet you and Billy Curry are raising all kinds of havic up there, I will miss you more then words could ever express my special friend , my long search is finally over but the sweet memories will never leave me . Tom Adams brought Jennifer and I out one day to meet his dad in his house one day. I remember it was on the edges of town, or so it seemed. His house was on top of this dirt hill, and the dogs were barking like mad as we rolled up. David came out of his house and stood there, hands on his hips staring at us. We got out, and Tom introduced us to him. David stood there, grimacing and had this hard stare....Then all of a sudden, his grimace softened into this huge grin as he thrust out his hand in friendship. We had a great visit that day, talking to him, cracking jokes, and talking about some of the neat things he had collected over the years. I will always remember that time we had with him, and treasure that memory. Thank you for introducing us to such a wonderful man.
