Daryl Wayne Shuey's Obituary
On Tuesday November 10, 2020, Daryl Shuey, a devoted husband and father of two children, passed away unexpectedly from a medical emergency at the age of 57, while on duty, as a Pierce County Sheriff’s deputy.
Daryl Wayne Shuey was born on January 26, 1963 to Herbert and Donna Shuey. He was raised in Gig Harbor, WA and grew up with his brothers Daniel Morgan of Astoria OR, Dennis Morgan and Robert Juneau of Bremerton, WA.
In 1994, Daryl was hired, as a deputy sheriff, with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, a job that Daryl loved for over 26 years. Daryl’s warm heart and cool head were a perfect fit for a career in law enforcement. He served his community with kindness and compassion every day on patrol. Year after year, Deputy Shuey signed up to serve in the busiest area of patrol in Parkland-Spanaway. It was not close to his home, but it was close to his heart. He believed that was where he was needed most.
In May 2006, Daryl married Karen and they later became the proud parents of two children, a daughter and a son. His family gave Daryl his greatest joy and inspiration. In his spare time, Daryl loved racing Porsches first and foremost, but also raced motocross and motorcycles and he loved boating. Daryl loved being on the open water and on his boat. Speed was his thing.
Daryl is preceded in death by his father Herbert and his brother Dennis. He is survived by his loving wife Karen, their daughter Hannah, son Vaughn, and his mother Donna and brothers Daniel and Robert.
