Daryl Frank's Obituary
Daryl Jay Frank’s final inning as the GOAT came on the morning of April 26, 2024. Daryl was born July 12, 1953, in Buffalo, NY, spending his early years growing up on Long Island and later Chicago. He traveled the country, seeing every college campus in the 48 states before settling in Tacoma, WA.
Daryl was a devoted husband and best friend to his wife, Susan, for 26 years (married July 12, 1998 in Tacoma), and a proud stepfather to his son, Ryan (Briana). Bubba was a doting grandfather and do-anything-at-anytime best friend to granddaughters Addison and Lillian. Daryl was a beloved brother to Daryn, D’Arry, Daryt, Daryk, Devyn, Josephine (Biasi) and Nicola (Biasi), and Uncle to DJ and Jonnie (Pavell), and Jesse (Runge).
"Hollywood" was not just a coach and mentor but an extraordinary beacon of positivity and joy to his students and every neighbor and child he engaged with. His time at Mount Tahoma High School was marked by his dedication to coaching (rugby, baseball, wrestling, golf, football, and athletic trainer) and his involvement as a paraeducator in special education, leaving an indelible mark on the lives he touched.
"Rocky" was “like a brother” to countless friends who have stepped up to help. Daryl (pseudonym "Knarf Lyrad") was an incredible artist of multiple forms, including fine art, illustrations, rapidograph, and cartoons. Daryl was a gifted athlete (baseball, rugby, boxing) and never quit playing. He was involved in the Tacoma Nomads and Tsunami Rugby Clubs and brought the love of the sport to many youth in the area. He was a lover of and loved by all animals, especially his dogs Pal, Palouka, Calypso, Simba, Dorie, and Billy (and Luna).
Daryl was a remarkable, irreplaceable individual who impacted more lives than many of us could hope to. We are forever grateful for our time with him and the memories he gifted us.
Arrangements are being made for a Celebration of Life fitting this wonderful soul will be held at Mt. Tahoma High School Commons, at the main entrance on July 12, 2024 from 2 - 5 pm. In memory of Daryl, donations are welcome to The Humane Society of Tacoma and Pierce County. Please visit www.daryljayfrank.com for more.
