Darleen MacLean, a vibrant and spirited soul, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025, in Puyallup, Washington, at the age of 88. Born in Tacoma, Washington, on October 23, 1936, Darleen was the beloved only daughter of the late Vernon and Mildred Spangler.
Known for her spunky personality and unwavering honesty, Darleen never hesitated to speak her mind. Her boldness was matched only by her compassion, especially for dogs. A lifelong dog lover, she fostered countless dogs over the years and found joy in reading books about them, always eager to learn more about her furry companions.
Darleen’s passion for beauty and style led her to a fulfilling career as a beautician and beauty instructor. She shared her expertise at several institutions, including Clover Park Technical College, where she inspired many aspiring cosmetologists. Specializing in color, Darleen was a true artist in her field, often experimenting with new techniques on her cousin Linda, who happily served as her trusted test subject.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, William MacLean. Darleen will be laid to rest beside him, continuing their journey together in eternity.
