Darek Chancellor Williams' Obituary
Retired Sergeant First Class Darek Chancellor Williams of Dupont, Washington passed away on January 15, 2020 at the age of 48. Darek was born on March 03, 1971 in Fort Benning, Georgia to his parents Dean and Linda Williams. He attended Carthage High school and Pierce Community College where he obtained his AA degree in Applied Science. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army and began his career as a heavy wheel mechanic. He also became a Recruiting Center Commander for 12 years. Darek served his country from 1992 to 2016. After his 23-year military career he retired and became the Director of Maintenance at Manorcare. He was married to the love of his life and soul mate Erika Campbell, on May 29, 2010. Darek thought of his three children as his most important accomplishments and they meant the world to him. He wanted his family to remember him as a loving, protective, and loyal father and husband who encouraged them always to pursue their goals and dreams. He was a funny, giving, and compassionate man who loved spending time tending his chickens, drawing, and collecting rocks. He also loved his Seattle Seahawks and spent time being a football coach for the Thurston County Youth Football League on his youngest son’s team.
Darek is survived by His wife, Erika Williams; His children, Tayler, Braxton, and Abbey Williams; His parents, Dean and Linda Williams; and His brother; Roger Williams; and many other friends who have been deeply impacted by the loss of such an important man.
Everyone of Darek’s family and friends feel truly honored and touched by the special man they had a part of their lives.
