Daphne Maxine McKinnon's Obituary
Daphne Maxine McKinnon, 61, of Lakewood, WA went with the angels to bed with her husband Otis James McKinnon on February 26th, 2017. Daphne was born on July 23, 1955 in Savannah, GA. She was raised by her great-grandmother from the age of 12, in Gainesville, FL after her mother passed away. She moved to Washington State back in 2000 to be closer to her daughter and grandson. She never finished high school but was one of the smartest people you would ever meet. She took pride in her work as a housekeeper for many years. She married her husband Otis McKinnon in 2004 as his dying wish approximately 10 days before his passing in 2004. Daphne was a kind soul with a loving heart who was always helping others. She would give you her last dime if she had it. A true humanitarian that unified people and lit up a room whenever she walked in. She just commanded attention wherever she went. She loved music and never passed up an opportunity to dance or make you laugh. Those who knew her were drawn to her calming spirit. Her hobbies were cooking, and puzzle books. She believed in living a simple, fun life and was a free spirit.
Daphne is survived by her daughter, Chiquita Carter and Grandson, Jeremy Patton of Kent, WA, her sister Vivian Lynette Moody of Lakewood, WA, a brother, Gerald Simmons of Archer, FL, sister, Linda Parker of Gainesville, Florida, a nephew, Reginald Johnson, Jr. of Tampa, FL, niece, Dosha Stokes of Gainesville, Florida and a host of family members and friends.
