Daniel Robert Washington's Obituary
Daniel Robert Washington (“Big D”) - July 2, 1956 - November 8, 2015
He was born on the Skokomish Indian Reservation in Shelton, but grew up in Tacoma starting at 1 month of age. He attended Lister Elementary, Gault Junior High, and Lincoln High Schools. He also took classes in Portland, Oregon to be a mortician, but switched to landscaping which he thoroughly enjoyed. Unfortunately, that is how he hurt his back and never fully recovered from back and knee surgery.
He had no wife or children, but to him he insisted that he could barely take care of himself, why take on more people he couldn’t take care of. How astute and insightful. He was a caring, humorous person and very protective of his family.
He was the baby boy of Vernon and Mabel Washington. He leaves behind his oldest brother Frank and wife Francine; brother Vernon Roger, Jr. and wife Lola; sister Judy and husband Jerry Wilkins; sister Roslynne and husband David Reed; and baby sister Stella and husband Max Fields.
The family offers their deep thanks to those who cared and cared for him at Life Care of Port Orchard and Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton.
Funeral services and burial will be held on Monday, November 16, 11:00 AM in the Celebration of Life Center at Mountain View Funeral Home, 4100 Steilacoom Boulevard SW, Lakewood. Reception/repast will be at the Mud Bay Shaker Church at 1910 Shaker Church Road NW, Olympia. Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home.
