I always had a very special place in my heart for Uncle Dan. I remember him as kind and patient. He was always politely inquisitive, truly interested in what was happening in my life. In that way, I always saw him as a selfless and modest man, so gifted and so giving in so many ways.
Uncle Dan and I shared a love of the outdoors and would always talk about our successes or failures in the field in pursuit of wild game. I always looked up to him in this regard, knowing he had hunting and shooting skills that I could only aspire to have myself. I know that the quality of one's life can be measured in the positive experiences of youth brought to your children. In Uncle Dan's case, I am confident that the memories of times afield left to his boys - my cousins - will remain with them for the rest of their lives. They will find peace with the thick scrapbook of memories that remains. It's a huge aspect of his legacy.
Uncle Dan was a solid guy. Fun loving. Laughing. But through faith I know where he is now. And when I see him again one day, laughing with Uncle Johnny like a couple of mischievous schoolboys, I'd like to share with him a hunting story or two to catch up.
I hope for strength to Aunt Lois and his family during this time. We are thinking about you all here in Omaha. Love - Chris and Family...##imported-begin##Chris Walker and Family##imported-end##
