Daniel F. Smith's Obituary
Daniel F. Smith, 88, passed away peacefully in his home on March 28, 2016. He was forever surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Martha, with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage. Daniel is survived by his four children, Sandra, Steven, Susan and Silvia, as well as numerous grandchildren and a great grandchild. He also leaves behind a brother, William, sister, Marion and cousin, Virginia.
In 1944, Daniel joined the US Merchant Marines at the age of 16. He also proudly served in the US Army for 20 years. After retiring from the Army, he began a second career with the US Postal Service and retired in 1989. Daniel was dedicated to the service of his country and was honored to have attained such a distinguished career with the US Government.
Possessing a great sense of humor, Daniel was warm, friendly and thoughtful. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, who will always be deeply loved and truly missed by his family and friends.
To honor Daniel’s memory, donations may be made to the VFW or animal charity of personal choice.
