Daniel "Dan" Stephen Mohn's Obituary
Daniel Stephen Mohn passed away February 26th, 2016 after a short battle with cancer. He was in his home surrounded by family at the time.
Dan was born November 11, 1954 to Daniel Warren Mohn and Frances Cromwell in Tacoma, WA, where he lived his entire life. He attended area schools and graduated from Stadium HS in 1973. Upon graduation, he joined his father in the family business for which he eventually took ownership. As a lifelong drywall contractor, Dan worked many residential projects in the Tacoma area and through his company, Excel Wallboard Finishing, he took great pride in impacting the lives of the residents within each home. Dan continued work in this trade until retiring in 2015.
On August 5, 1977 Dan married his best friend, Darlene Rasmussen, and they remained together for 38 years – all the way through his final day. Dan was an active member of the Evangelistic Tabernacle and Tacoma Alliance Church who enjoyed summer getaways to Ocean Shores and Penrose State Park. He had a passion for antique cars, old TV shows, and scrapbooking.
Dan is survived by his loving wife Darlene, with whom he had four sons and two daughter-in-laws: Danny (Jessie), Michael, Matthew (Rachel), and Jeremy Mohn. He was a loving grandfather who enjoyed spending time with each of his five grandchildren: Erik (14), Alexis (12), Carson (10), Jackson (7), and Dagen Mohn (3). He is also survived by sisters Barbara Heinrichs (Vern) and Ruth Higgins Farias (Kevin), along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday March 5, 2016 at 3:00 pm inside the Tacoma Alliance Church – 2401 S. Orchard, Tacoma, WA, 98466, with a meal following.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to home health staff members Cathy and Anne and, in lieu of flowers, asks for donations to MultiCare Hospice at PO Box 5200, Tacoma, WA 98415 In Memory of Daniel Mohn.
