Daniel "Dan" Batty's Obituary
Daniel “Dan” Batty, 78, of Tacoma, Washington, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025. Born November 21, 1947, in Tacoma, WA, to George and Mary Batty, Dan was one of five children in a loving family. He graduated from Franklin Pierce High School and went on to build a life defined by hard work, devotion to family, and a love for the outdoors.
Dan married Evelyn, the love of his life, and embraced her two daughters as his own. Together, they welcomed two more daughters, completing a family that was his greatest pride and joy.
A lifelong heavy equipment operator in the logging industry, Dan had a deep passion for his work. For many years, he owned and operated his own business, Dan’s Trucking, and only retired about ten years ago. His dedication and skill earned him respect throughout the industry.
Outside of work, Dan enjoyed tending to his koi fishpond and spent many years racing cars at Spanaway Speedway. He loved watching shows like Survivor, General Hospital, Gold Rush, and Deadliest Catch. His favorite simple pleasure was a cold beer—especially a good IPA. Known as a jokester with a quiet demeanor, Dan was hardworking, loyal, and deeply loved by those who knew him.
Dan is survived by his four daughters, seven grandchildren, and six great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Batty, and his siblings.
Dan's legacy lives in the hearts of all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed but forever cherished.
