Dana L. Williams' Obituary
Dayna Leshawne Hentz Williams (Coach D) was born on May 14, 1970 in Columbia, South Carolina. She accepted Christ at an early age and was Baptized at Community Memorial Church of God in Christ. Dayna lead and sang songs as a member of the choir and was a Youth Leader in the Church.
Dayna’s education started in Tacoma, WA and continued in the Richland County School system in Columbia, SC. She attended and graduated from Eau Claire High School where she played volleyball and softball. Dayna went on to obtain her degree at Coker College in Hartsville, SC. Dayna loved to sing. Outside of singing in Church, she sang with groups such as Gaines McBeth and John P. Kee.
Dayna journeyed from South Carolina and relocated to Washington with her children. She reunited with former Eau Claire classmate, Clarence in 2009. From then, they remained a couple and were planning their special union. Dayna was very family-oriented and loved supporting her children as well as other children in sports. From this, she gained the name “Coach D”! She was at every game routing them and the team, dressed in their colors and gear from little league, AAU, middle to high school and then on supporting them in college games. Dayna (Coach D) was well known and loved. She was a vibrant soul that everyone, (young and old) gravitated to. She became another mother, sister, aunt and daughter to many. She was always the life of the party and would capture each moment to remember! Dayna’s favorite color was purple. Whether it was her beautiful clothing, nails, hair, or infamous lip colour, she made sure you knew it.
Dayna gained her Heavenly Wings on her 51st birthday May 14, 2021 following a short battle of Leukemia. She was preceded in death by her father, West Hentz and her brother, Melvin “Hamm” Jefferson Jr.
Dayna (Coach D) leaves to mourn and cherish her memory: her two sons, Jayson Joel De’shawn and Jaylen Wes; daughter Clarissia; her fiancé Clarence Baxley; her mother Jennie Hentz of Atlanta, GA; five sisters, Kimberly (John) Williams of Atlanta, GA; Faithful Watson, Lillie McMillan, Eternal Glenn, and Monya Eigner all of Columbia, SC; two brothers Brian Foreman and Curtis Eigner also of Columbia, SC; two aunts, Odell Henderson of Tacoma, WA and Daisy Eigner of Columbia, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and Dear friends that all loved her.
