Dale Warren McCarty's Obituary
Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27
Dale McCarty was born on June 16, 1946 in Napa, California where he lived until he moved to Puyallup, WA in 1994. He passed away on July 29, 2023 at age 77. He was the son of Damon McCarty and Dorothy Boyd and was the youngest of 3 boys.
Dale was a graduate of Napa High School and attended Lincoln Christian University in Illinois where he studied theology. Throughout his career, Dale was a Park Ranger, Pastor, Church Building Contractor, a Loftsman, and a Longshoreman. He retired around 10 years ago as a Longshoreman working at the Port of Tacoma.
Dale was married to Sally McCarty (Merian) on April 5, 1975 at First Christian Church in Napa, CA. They just celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary. He is survived by his wife Sally McCarty, his 5 children, Charity McCarty, Dennis (and Christianna) McCarty, Chris McCarty, Colin (and Renae) McCarty, and Emily (and Jeremiah) Hoyle and had 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
He went to First Christian Church (Napa, CA), Motion Church (Puyallup, WA), and Riverbend Church (Austin, TX). Dale was an active volunteer at his church for many years. He was a church elder, was on the worship team and the greeting team and was a small group leader. He was involved in the Men’s Ministry and in Youth Ministry.
When he was 13 years old, Dale decided to give his heart to Jesus and become a Christian. From that point forward, he dedicated his life to studying God’s word and spiritually investing in the lives of others. Dale had a heart for the Lord and for people. He is known for his generous spirit, faithful heart, and love of life. He enjoyed traveling, cooking, camping, fishing, singing and listening to acapella music, reading, going to Major League Baseball games, and spending time talking with family and friends. He found great joy in being a grandparent.
Dale would want the atmosphere of his memorial service to be celebratory. He appreciated and coveted all the prayers for him during his battle with cancer. We want to give special thanks to the Senior’s Bible Study at Sound Life Church led by Pastor Terry Kaiser, the members of COTLR, the staff at Faith Family Church, the many doctors and medical teams who fought alongside Dale during the past 2 years, and all his friends and family members who faithfully prayed for him.
A Memorial Service for Dale is scheduled for Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 11:30am at Sound Life Church, located at 3425 176th St E, in Tacoma, WA 98446.
