Cynthis Benton Lee's Obituary
Cynthia B. Lee was born on September 9th, 1961, in Hampton, Virginia. She commissioned in 2009 as a 1LT, attending the United States Army Graduate Program in Anesthesia Nursing through Northeastern University where she received her Master’s Degree. Shortly thereafter, the Army assigned her to Tripler Army Medical Center in 2011, where she served for three years as a Nurse Anesthetist. Cynthia deployed in 2014 for nine months with the 31st Combat Support Hospital to Kabul, Afghanistan. She spent the remainder of her military career from 2015-2021 at Madigan Army Medical Center as a Nurse Anesthetist. During Cynthia’s six-year tenure at Madigan, she deployed in 2018 to Sinai, Egypt. In 2022, Cynthia left active duty as a MAJOR in the U.S. Army and remained at Madigan to continue her service to the nation as a civilian Nurse Anesthetist.
Cynthia Lee’s military awards include the Army Commendation Medal (three Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (Combat device), Global War on Terrorism Medal (Expeditionary), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral two), NATO Medal, and the Multinational Force and Observers Medal.
Cynthia Lee was a woman brimming with dedication, a sense of adventure, an incredible talent for being present, and love for all things. She was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and an avid lover of the outdoors. She enjoyed sharing her love for physical endurance with everyone she met, recruiting colleagues and friends on hikes, adventure competitions, and endurance races. She found serenity in long runs, triathlons, hiking, exploring the world and spending time with friends, and often combined her pastimes into epic world travels. Cynthia Lee had a special place in her heart for animals and rejoiced in caring for her feline companions. She savored life's simple pleasures like enjoying sunsets in Puget Sound. She delighted in bringing people joy, even when joy was just a slice of birthday pie. Above all, Cynthia cherished her loving husband, Jim, her son, Nick, and spoke highly of her daughter Elise to friends and co-workers. Her friends and family were the center of her universe, and she always put their needs before her own. Cynthia Lee’s warm smile, kind heart, and zest for life will forever be remembered by those who had the true privilege of knowing her.
Cynthia Lee is survived by her son, Nicholas Lanier Gill, and daughter, Elise Jensen Gill.
