Cynthia Kay Stephenson's Obituary
Mrs. Cynthia Kay “Cindy” Stephenson (Franklin), age 65, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2026, at Harborview Hospital in Seattle, Washington. She was born on June 22, 1960, in Watertown, South Dakota, to Dale and Gloria Franklin. Cindy grew up surrounded by a close-knit family and a strong foundation of faith in Jesus Christ and in God's Word —values that remained central to her throughout her life.
Cindy's greatest joy was to travel, and she enjoyed helping others with their travels as an airline reservation agent. Prior to that, she spent many years as a travel agent, combining her love for helping others with her passion for exploring the world. Her work allowed her to connect with people from all walks of life and share in their journeys—both literally and figuratively.
Traveling was more than just a job or hobby for Cindy; it was a way of life. Whether discovering new destinations or revisiting favorite places, she cherished every opportunity to experience the beauty and diversity of the world. When she wasn't travelling, she loved quilting, photography, books and baking sourdough bread, as well as many other activities that brought her and those around her joy. Cindy's passion for adoption was another central love throughout her life.
Above all else, Cindy’s heart belonged to her family. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Michael Stephenson; daughter, Mikayla Stephenson; and son, Noah Stephenson. She also leaves behind two sisters, Becky Harper and Linda Franklin; two brothers, Rich Franklin and Todd Franklin; as well as over 50 nieces and nephews whose lives were touched by her warmth and generosity.
Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Gloria Franklin.
Her legacy is one of love—for family, for faith, and for adventure. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her and continue to inspire lives filled with compassion and curiosity. A service celebrating her life will be held on February 5, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Mountainview Funeral Home and Cemetery 'Garden Chapel' 4100 Steilacoom Blvd SW.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Cindy's memory to Care Net of Puget Sound.
