Growing up in Puyallup, he attended Ridgecrest Grade School, Ballou Junior High, and Emerald Ridge High School. He continued on to College at Warner Pacific in Portland with a partial scholarship in track and cross country, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications /Business.
Curt became the youngest basketball referee in Washington (WWBOA) starting in high school and then continued on in Oregon (OSAA) and some in Las Vegas. He loved that job! One of the favorite highlights of his earlier ref days was he got to meet some of the Pac Ten referees, who gave him many great tips, but also complimented him on his game and his easy going nature.
Currently he started refereeing again here in Washington, and started helping at Emerald Ridge, coaching disadvantaged kids in basketball. He also hooked up with his college track coach assisting in track meets in Chehalis. He was planning on attending more college to get his teaching certificate.
Curt loved sports starting out at a young age with baseball, basketball and then track and cross country. Because of his sportsmanship and leadership qualities, he became captain of the team at Emerald Ridge, and continued on as captain at Warner Pacific.
He was a very good poker player, and became a great dealer that led him to Las Vegas where he dealt at Caesar’s Palace, The Palms, and even dealt for the World Poker Series. Moving back to Portland after a couple years in Vegas, he worked at the Final Table Poker Club, dealing and managing the desk.
One of his favorite pastimes was “strumming” on his guitar singing his own songs. He loved hiking, camping, and most of all just being with family and friends.
