Curley B Gipson Jr.'s Obituary
Curley B. Gipson Jr. (84) of Steilacoom went with the angels the morning of March 20, 2017. Born in Marion, Arkansas, May 9, 1932, Curley was one of the original members of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church of Lakewood and the past Worshipful Master of Cassia Lodge #5 in Tacoma. He worked for the Ford Motor Company before joining the Army in 1953 and retired as a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He spent three years teaching electronics for the Tacoma Technical Institute and retired as an electrician from Sears and Roebuck in Tacoma, as well as volunteered under the Title I program for Cherrydale Elementary in the Steilacoom School District.
Curley is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, aunts and uncles, but he is survived by his wife of 58 years, Cenus Gipson, and their son Juan Gipson (Renee) of Federal Way and daughter Cheryl Cervantes of Spanaway; six grandchildren: Emiliano Cervantes, Bianca Rexroth (Michael), Mia Gipson, Alejandro Cervantes, Michael Gipson, Miguel Cervantes, and one great-grandchild, Lydia Rexroth.
A celebration of life service will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home in the Aspen Chapel in Lakewood, Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 3:00pm. Public Viewing from 2:00pm to 3:00pm.
