I worked with Craig at Haggen's in Olympia for many years and he always helped me understand better the wine's he offered and was always willing to answer questions and offer suggestions. Incredibly knowledgeable about his products and could find just about anything a customer asked for. He will be missed but never forgotten.
We knew Craig for many years as the person in charge of the Wines and Spirits section of Haggen Grocery in Olympia. He advised us many, many times about wines that we might like - for personal use, as well as for dinner parties and auctioned wine-tasting parties. His tastes pretty-much aligned with our own tastes, so we trusted his advice.
Over the years, we got to know him pretty well. We always looked forward to seeing him when we did our weekly trip to Haggen.
He told us about his health challenges, and we knew that he had a very rocky road ahead. When he retired, we wished him well and knew we would not see him again.
On 24 May, we asked about him when we were doing our weekly grocery shopping at Haggens and we were told, sadly, that he had died recently.
We send our condolences to his family, and we rremember the always-cheerful man we knew for at least a decade, in the Wines section at Haggen in Olynpia.
