Cornell Knight's Obituary
Cornell Knight, 58, of Kent, Washington, passed away peacefully surrounded by those who loved him deeply on Saturday, August 3, 2013.
Cornell was born in Biloxi, Mississippi on December 31, 1954. He graduated from Lakes High School in Lakewood, Washington, in 1972. Later enlisted in the U.S. Army and then went on to earn a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from Washington State University. Cornell married his childhood sweetheart, Dian Gay Knight.
Cornell worked as an Independent Contractor and prior to that he received his Cosmetology license and learned his craft working in Bobbie’s Beauty Salon in Lakewood, Washington. He became an expert in hair care and hair coloring and went on to continue his work in Frankfurt Germany. Later Cornell would own and operate a Salon in Gulfport, Mississippi. Cornell enjoyed being outside surrounded by nature. He had a natural green thumb and was an avid plant lover, spending many hours cultivating and taking care of his beloved plants.
Cornell is survived by his wife, Dian Gay Knight; mother, Bobbie Knight; seven children, Felicia A. Knight, Rachel Wolfe, Bobbi L. Watanabe, Brice Michalek, Cornell D. Knight, Darnell C. Knight, and Hercules D.A. Knight; Step Children, Justin Vance and Ashley Vance; his 8 grandchildren, Rodney Vincent, Jr., Ryleigh Marshall, Thijs Lloyd, Cody Lloyd, Azayla Watanabe-Learson, Zayden Learson, Kiyoka Towner, Malachi and Nekko Michalek; his sister, Angela Knight; his, nephew Stefan Wilson and niece, Dionika Wilson; and the rest of his family and friends.
Cornell’ is preceded in death by his father, Darnell Knight.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on August 9, 2013 at Mountain View Funeral Home and Memorial Park, Tacoma , Washington, in the Aspen chapel. Burial will follow the funeral at Mountain View Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Mountain View Funeral Home and Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Swedish Cancer Institute’s General Fund, Swedish Medical Center Foundation, 747 Broadway, Seattle, WA 98122.
