Corinne Adele Hansson's Obituary
Corinne Hansson, born in Tacoma, Washington on October 23, 1946, went peacefully to be with her Lord on the evening of Monday, September 10, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kaare & Lois Hansson, both of Tacoma. She is survived by her sister, Barb Delorme, plus her niece & nephew, Nyki Delorme (Sean Nyffeler) & Chase Delorme, all of Tacoma; & also her beloved “adopted” family members, Tom & Charleene McDonnell (Puyallup), Jon McDonnell (Jen & little Kaleb), Sarah McDonnell-Bishop (Ben), Matt McDonnell (Katie Montgomery), & Jacque Shopher. She attended Tacoma Community College & graduated from Western Washington University. She majored in speech therapy, but eventually decided instead to go into teaching, working originally in special education in Tacoma School District & then in the regular classroom at a variety of elementary schools in the district during her 40-year teaching career. She immensely loved all those children she taught – they were her daily joy & inspiration; and she would often share comical anecdotal stories of her long career. You could always tell it was her passion in life. She grew up in church at Life Center (formerly Assemblies of God Church) (Tacoma), & then later Champions Centre (formerly People's Church) (Tacoma). She was always involved in the music & children's ministries in church, either
singing solos or in the choir, or working as a Sunday School/Vacation Bible School teacher. She loved being simply referred to as “Auntie Corinne” by her nieces & nephews, and took true joy in celebrating all of them at each birthday & holiday, especially Christmas. Corinne was an avid reader & lover of Christian music, especially a good gospel quartet. She holds a very special place in many hearts by all those whose lives she touched. A special thanks goes out to all the wonderful people who cared for her at St. Joseph Medical Center & Hospice House, and Tacoma Lutheran Home. A memorial & graveside service (incl. reception) will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at 1:00 pm in the Mountain View Celebration of Life Center, Aspen Chapel. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 25, from 10 am to 8 pm. at Mt. View Funeral Home, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood, WA.
