Cora Uhler's Obituary
Cora Uhler, 81, of Renton, passed away October 20, 2022, while she was sleeping. She put up a long fight with Parkinson’s. By the Mercy of God her final days were spent in her usual routine, being positive and making others laugh. She is now no longer in pain and Resting In Paradise.
She was born September 4, 1941, in McNary Arizona to Eloisa and Prospero Aragon. Cora was 1 of 10 children. She went to Flagstaff High School, loved to bake and loved to dance. She and her siblings would do anything to go to a dance. *Ask about the bubble gum story.
She was a friend to everyone she met and would do anything for them. It was in Flagstaff where she met Jack White, the father of her children and in 1968 they relocated to Washington State. Not long after they moved to Washington they purchased a house in West Seattle, to raise their children in. Cora and Jack enjoyed bowling, playing darts, dancing and entertaining family and friends. Later Cora continued to raise their 3 children as a single Mother in their West Seattle home. Cora and Jack continued their friendship until his passing in 2008, she wanted him to be remembered as a loving Father.
Cora was the mom that drove the kids to school, she was happy to take any neighborhood kids that made the walk up the steep hill and didn’t mind squishing into her green Pinto, even if they were squished, they still had fun. She was the mom who volunteered to be the room Mom and would bring goodies for class parties. She was the mom who played the record player or 8 track tapes and would get everyone to dance around the living room. She was the mom who made the best Spanish rice, the hottest green chili, the best pork chops and prepared the best Salisbury steak. Best of all was her homemade fudge and chocolate pudding, always letting the kids lick the warm goodness from the spoon. Cora loved her children very much but loved her grandchildren and great-grandchild even more.
Cora worked many different types of jobs, and always made close friends with the ones she worked with. When she was a young girl she picked cotton with her family, as she got older, she worked in a Laundromat and a tortilla factory. While the kids were in elementary school, Cora was excited to learn a trade and proud to work for a company who processed Boeing’s paycheck’s, her job was key punch operator. Her favorite job was working in the bakery department for Safeway. She had lots of repeat customers. She had that joyful smile and fun-loving personality that kept them going back or it may have been because she would fill their box with extra goodies.
After the kids were grown and gone, Cora moved to Yelm and soon after her and Pete Uhler built their lives and dream home together. It was then they decide to get married and what a fun wedding that was, a double wedding with her youngest Sister. To this day the wedding is celebrated each year with all the family and friend’s old and new, gathering together in Laughlin where the wedding took place.
In 2008 when Pete passed away, Cora still continued the tradition of gathering in Laughlin with family and friends, celebrating her love for Pete her loving husband and best friend.
She is survived by her huge loving family, children, grandchildren, great-grandchild and many friends. She was so proud of her entire family always willing and open to share their joy, with smiles, laughter and love as that was her goal every day. Take the love she shared with you and share with others as she so lovingly showed all of us to do.
