Cora F. Phillips' Obituary
CORA F. PHILLIPS Born March 17, 1913 to Dail and Tillie Grout in Tacoma, WA; passed away March 12, 2008 in Tacoma, WA. Preceded in death by her parents, 1st husband Herbert Gunns, son Dail Joe Gunns, 2nd husband James R. Phillips, SR, son-in-Law, James R. Phillips, JR, sister Mildred Cook, brother, Leonard Dail Grout and great grandson Corey Herzog, also, her constant companion, Robert R. Eaton and her best friend, Louise Schreiner. She is survived by her wonderful daughter-in-law, Marion Phillips, grandchildren, Kristopher (Carol) Phillips and Kari (Tim) Herzog, seven great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, sisters, Verde Grandfield, CA and Dorothy (Eddie) Jeffries, Tacoma, many nieces and nephews and many, many, very good friends including, Sherri (Rich) Lange, who she has known for 40 years. The Eaton family has been very good to her and adopted her as "Family". Ron and Gina Eaton gave her a wonderful 90th St. Patrick's birthday party with the help of many "little leprechaun's". More than 125 relatives and friends attended the celebration. She always felt blessed having so many friends and always enjoyed life to its fullest. At 90 years old, she bought a brand new car and learned to paint (one stroke). She loved doing crafts, making ear-rings, pins, Christmas ornaments, beautiful photo albums and dogs out of golf balls. She loved to dance, play pinochle, and go to automobile races, hunting, fishing and writing poetry. Her special night was Tuesday when she went to dinner and the show with the "Tuesday Nite Girls" (Gina, Zee, Donna, Connie, Tammy, Nina and Alice). Cora was a life member of the V.F.W. Ray Roberts Post 969, a 30+ year member of the Eagles Auxiliary Aerie #3 and past president of Eagles R.E.A.C. Club #3. She worked at Buffelen Door Factory for 27 years. She also worked at Johnsons Candy, Nalley's and retired in 1978 from Pioneer Business Forms. Many thanks for the wonderful care at Allenmore Hospital, especially Patti in I.C.U and to Dr. Cynthia Edwards and Dr. Chang. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Multicare Hospice. Services will be at Mountain View Funeral Home, 2:00PM, March 17th, Aspen Chapel.
