Connie Hurley's Obituary
On Tuesday November 12, 2013 - Connie C. Hurley (born Agnes Antoinette Canonica) age 105, moved on to a better place. Formerly from Tacoma, Washington, her current home had been in Mukilteo, Washington.
As the amazing length of time that she spent on this earth would suggest, she was preceded in death by many family members. Among those who went before her, three brothers, one sister, one grandson, and her only daughter.
She was born on a bright sunny day May 16, 1908 in Billings, Montana. At age 15 she became a resident of Tacoma. She attended Stadium High School where she graduated in 1927. She went on to attend Knapp’s Business College. She spent 16 years working as a cashier at Macpherson’s Dry Goods in Salmon, Idaho. She returned to Tacoma in 1964 where she was cashier for Mallon Motors in Tacoma.
After retirement in 1972, she could be found at home playing the keyboard, playing bridge, solving crossword puzzles, putting together Jigsaw puzzles, and working in the yard. Occasionally she enjoyed a trip to the local casino to play the nickel slots.
She leaves behind an extended family in addition to 4 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
As a spiritual person and a long standing member of the Methodist church she made every effort to attend Sunday service.
A memorial service will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday November 19, 2013 at Fern Hill Methodist Church, 501 S 84th St, Tacoma WA, 98444.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in her name to Fern Hill Methodist Church would be deeply appreciated by the family.
