Conchita Vergara Garrido's Obituary
Conchita “Conchit” Vergara Garrido, 74, returned to her heavenly home on September 29, 2019. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her struggle during her illness and ultimately gave her peace.
Conchit was born to the late Benjamin and Mercedes Vergara in Victorias City, Negros Occidental, Philippines on October 27, 1944. Conchita is survived by her husband of 58 years, Juanito Caballero Garrido of Parkland, Washington; son Roque Garrido and daughter-in-law Marissa, and grandchildren Ryan, Randy, Sheena, Rasheed, and Hannah Eliz of Bacolod, Philippines; son John Garrido and daughter-in-law Gina and granddaughter Precious of Iloilo, Philippines; son Nelson Garrido and daughter-in-law Flor, and grandchildren Vanessa Andrea, Christian Keith, April Rose, and Ethan Mark of Manila, Philippines; daughter Liezel Pulido and son-in-law Joel, and grandchildren Joshua, Hannah, and Joseph of Parkland, Washington; daughter Richelle Mercadejas and son-in-law Adelio, and grandchildren Euan Nicholas and Gabriella Ysabelle of Manila, Philippines; brother Rogelio Vergara of Negros Occidental, Philippines; sister Celerena Modelo of Negros Occidental, Philippines; brother Roger Cabucos of Iloilo, Philippines; and many nieces nephews, and cousins.
To say that Conchita was a kind, compassionate, courageous, and loving person would be an understatement. She did not develop those positive qualities, but rather, we choose to believe that her person may have been the results of the mixture of those qualities. She lived the entirety of her life practicing those virtues to the fullest. She came to America with her husband in 2005 to help their daughter Liezel, a registered nurse, take care of the three grandchildren of Parkland, WA. She was blessed with a large and loving family. Her greatest joys are her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved to talk about family and the achievements of her grandchildren.
Loved and treasured by her own family, she was and still is loved even more by those who were not as close to her, those people whose lives were deeply touched by her hospitality (she loved entertaining friends), hearty cooking, and gardening. Conchit left us nothing but beautiful memories. Although she left us so soon, her smile and laughter will remain fresh in the hearts of those who have loved and known her well. She is loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
Conchit will be buried in the Philippines. Public viewing will be held on Friday, October 11th, 2019 at Mountain View Funeral Home, 4100 Steilacoom Boulevard SW., Lakewood, WA from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Viewing service will be held from 3:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. on the same day. Rev. Merciano Driz of Christ Enrichment Church will officiate both services.
