Colleen Wright's Obituary
Colleen, born on 3/17/34, went to be with her heavenly father on 9/27/12 after several years of declining health. She was born to Joy and George Measom in Mapleton, Utah. The family settled in Tacoma when Colleen was 11. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1952. It was there that she met the love of her life, Darrell Wright. They married in 1954 and began raising their family in various ports as Darrell was in the Navy. In 1969 retirement brought them back to Tacoma. Colleen had various jobs from then on, but was most proud of being a homemaker. She was an accomplished seamstress as several women have worn prom and wedding dresses made by Colleen and Darrell has a -Å"special red suit- he wears each December that was made by her. Countless babies have been wrapped in quilts she made, and her grandchildren have always had a magic blanket to keep them warm. She also faithfully served several church callings- as a primary teacher (20+ years), Beehive Clothing, and an 18 month mission to London among many others. She always found joy in traveling whether it be a weekend at the ocean or a cross-country drive to Florida. Mexico and Hawaii were special destinations for her. Colleen is preceded in death by her parents, step-father George Peugh, step-brother Larry, and son Tom Wright. She leaves behind her loving husband; daughter and friend Lynn Tiegs (Russ), son Eric Sr., daughter-in-law Diane, brother Lee (Karen),sister Diane Allen (Richard), step-sister Betty Zufelt (Dale), step-sister-in-law Diane Peugh-Peterson, 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and countless friends and admirers. Service will be held Thursday October 4th at 11 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 11212 17th Ave East in Tacoma. Graveside dedication at Mountain View Funeral Home followed by a reception at the church.
