Colleen Holste's Obituary
Colleen F. Holste passed away peacefully April 14, 2025 at her home in Eatonville, WA. Colleen was born in Shelton, Washington on September 27, 1946 and moved to Tacoma with her parents. She attended school and college at PLU and UW. After college she worked at Allenmore and Tacoma General Hospitals where she was the director of the billings department. She went out for dinner and dancing one night with some girlfriends at the Riverside in Tukwila, when a 6’3” cowboy with a beard and ponytail asked her for a dance; She married Bud Holste in Olympia, Washington almost 30 years ago. They bought property in Montana before they retired but moved to Alaska to fish and hunt and then to Montana to build a home. They returned to Tacoma in 2005 to build a home in the Eatonville area to take care of her ailing parents. She attended class reunions and family gatherings on Hood Canal. She volunteered for many years at the Eatonville School where her grandkids attended and never missed a sporting event when they participated. She enjoyed baking cookies, camping with family, white water rafting, and quilting. She made patchwork quilts for family members. She was a member of the Tacoma Sportsman Club and the NRA.
She was a member of and attended the Lutheran Church of St Paul in Graham, Washington. She is preceded in death by her father Percy J. Knox, mother Violet Knox, and her younger brother Robert Knox, all from Tacoma. Colleen is survived by her husband Bud Holste, son Sean Antonson (Cari) from Eatonville, step-son Jeffery Holste (DeAnn) from Utah, and step-daughter Hope Smith (Gary) from Oklahoma, 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Kim Knox from Tacoma, Lynda Rose from Ohio and Joyce Johnson from Vermont, and many cousins, nieces and nephews from all over the U.S. and Canada, Ireland, and England. She would like her ashes spread with her husband’s someday on Mt Rainier.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Puyallup Nursing Home and the Puget Sound Hospice for the care and love they gave her.
A funeral for Colleen will be held at the Lutheran Church of St. Paul in Graham, WA on Thursday, April 21, 2025 at 6:00 PM.
