Colleen was preceded in death by her parents Laurence A. Haugen and Margaret Mary Haugen (Dougherty), brothers Edward (Lois), Richard (Julie), Michael and sister Gloria Moreland (Cliff). Her son Daniel and niece Kareen. She is survived by longtime friend Val, children Shelly and Jason Weiss, grandchildren Ashley, Joey, Jaden, Skylar, Jordan, Tyler, Ryan, Caleb, Isla, Idris & Ronan, great grandchildren Gabriel and Wyatt, brother Patrick (Patricia), sisters Kathleen and Laurie (Ron) and many, many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. I am not going to even begin to name them all, would be here all year! LOL. She is deeply loved by so many!
Colleen was born in Tacoma, Washington. Following her parents’ tragic deaths at an early age, she, her sisters Kathleen and Laurie were rescued by older sister Gloria who very capably and lovingly cared for their needs. At age 15, she left Tacoma to live with her older brother Patrick and family in sunny Southern California for a short period then accompanied them to Hawaii for a year of island life before returning to Tacoma to complete high school. Colleen graduated from Lincoln High and continued her education at Knapps Business College in the Executive Secretary program. She soon married and was widowed by her first husband Bob Weiss whom she had a girl Shelly with. She later had son Jason Weiss with Al Parnell and they remained friends. She and Steve Kasputis had a baby boy together, Daniel Weiss, who passed at 3 months old. She never recovered from this loss. They later married and divorced and remained friends until his death. She then married Bill Davis whom she had no children with. They divorced and remained friends as well. Her last years were spent with Val Sutter. They were great friends and spent their retired years enjoying the casino and her singing karaoke at their favorite watering hole. She had a beautiful voice.
Colleen worked in the medical field for most of her life. She worked diligently and with great pride for Group Health Cooperative (now Kaiser) as a Patient Care Representative for many years from which she retired at age 63. She could always be counted on to readily greet you with an infectiously wonderful smile and a half laugh/chuckle. Colleen was a great friend to all that met her. She had a love for singing and spent decades singing Karaoke, one song she sang most often was “Daniel” by Elton John. She collected Tigers, Bells and Coins and had quite the collection! Colleen had a love for cats as well. Her last kitties, Sapoo and Kaiser, were spoiled with love.
She is forever with the Lord now. We will miss her dearly and remember her always . For now, we say adieu and leave our mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, auntie and friend with a traveler’s blessing in keeping with her heritage: May the blessings of light be upon you, light without and light within. And in all your comings and goings, may you ever have a kindly greeting from them you meet along the road.
Colleen requested to be cremated and laid to rest with her son Danny at Mountain View Cemetery in Tacoma. A private Celebration of Life will be held at her niece Casey’s house November 19th. Contact her @360.807.3757 or her niece Kathy @253.226.6056 for address and details. Donations can be made in lieu of flowers for expenses at the celebration.
