Colleen M. Brown's Obituary
Colleen Marie (Carr) Brown
October 13, 1936 – February 21, 2021
Colleen Marie Brown, beloved family matriarch, passed away on the 21st of February 2021 in hospice. She was 84 years old.
Born October 13th, 1936, in Tacoma, Washington, Colleen married John Warren Brown on June 22nd 1958; John preceded her in death in October of 2020.
Colleen was born October 13th to John and Shirley Carr. She grew up in Tacoma, WA, attending Lincoln High School. As a teenager she met John Brown; they were married in 1958 and began building their lives together, welcoming son Devin in 1972. She retired in from the University of Puget Sound, after working in the computer services department for many years.
Colleen enjoyed getting together with family and friends, catching up with her fellow “Lincoln Chicks” classmates, and walking Chambers Bay golf course with her friends. She also enjoyed cooking and baking: her infamous cookies made twice a year will be missed by many.
During her final years, Colleen demonstrated incredible strength and resilience dealing with late-stage dementia. She was happiest with her husband and son, and relished looking out at and being on the water. Although she will be dearly missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that Colleen is now happily reunited with her husband and no longer suffering.
Colleen is survived by her son Devin (Juliette), brother Terry Carr (Patty), cousin-like-a-sister Sandy (Joe), niece Heather Derenski (Phil), and many extended family members.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions we will plan a day this summer to celebrate both Colleen and John.
