Coley Glenn Stansell's Obituary
Coley Glenn Stansell was 64 years old. He passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at St Clair’s Hospital in Lakewood, WA. He was born January 23, 1952 in Santa Ana, Texas to the late Lawrence Stansell and Lee Etta Coley.
Coley attended Austin Junior High School and graduated from Midland High School in Midland Texas and later attended Durham Business College in Lubbock, Texas. He joined the U.S. Army in 1972 where he served fourteen years as a Staff Sergeant. On August 14th, 1976 he married his junior high school sweetheart, Zelma (Punkin) Winn, and to this union four daughters were born. He settled his family in Fort. Lewis, WA.
After retirement from the Army Coley was employed with McDonalds in the maintenance department for 14 years.
Coley became a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, of Tacoma, WA, where he served as an Usher.
In the year 1997 he became a Master Mason of Pride of Washington Lodge #98 Prince Hall Affiliate. He held many seats in the lodge and served as Worshipful Master in 2002 and 2004.
He became a member of Amaranth Chapter #48 in 1998, where he served as the Associate Patron and Worthy Patron. He served as a committee member for Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets. He became Grand Sentential, Grand Associate Patron and Grand Worthy Patron Prince Hall Grand Chapter Order of Eastern Star Washington State and Jurisdiction.
He was a member of Consistory #107 where he held several seats and became Commander and Chief. Where he achieved his 33rd degree in 2012 in Denver Colorado.
In 2002 he became a Noble of Yemen Temple #152 where he served as Oriental Guide.
His interests included having gatherings with family, friends and his masonic family. He loved making his Texas Mesquite Bar BQ and a Bar BQ is just not a Bar BQ without his Heinekens and Jose Cuervo Tequila. He liked playing Domino’s where it only took 5 to get in at his house. Good times at Lincoln City, Oregon anytime you said the word. Sunday with his Favorite Foot Ball Team Dallas Cowboys and his favorite Basketball team San Antonio Spurs.
Coley is survived by his wife Zelma (Punkin) Stansell of 51 years, two sisters Peggy Robinson and Kathy Jackson-Nash and one brother Steven Stansell of Midland, TX. Four daughters, Sharon Crawford (Daniel), Angela Mc Cants (Andy), Charlotte Stansell-Harris, and Kalisha Stansell all of Tacoma, WA; along with 7 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Proceeded in death by is his father Lawrence Stansell and mother Lee’ Etta Coley Stansell.
