Clyde E. Littlejohn's Obituary
Clyde Edward Littlejohn, age 75, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2018 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington. He was born on October 23, 1943, in Gaffney, South Carolina, to the late Roosevelt and Annie Littlejohn. He graduated from Granard High School in Gaffney, SC in 1961. He married Mary Frances Mcbeth, in Gaffney, SC, in 1964. The same year, he was drafted into the United States Army. An expert M16, he served 13 months in Vietnam and earned several medals, including two Purple Hearts. After his 11-year army career ended, he attended Green River Community College in an apprenticeship program for Burlington Northern Railroad. He also attended Bates Vocational School earning a certificate in Concrete Technician. Clyde worked for Burlington Northern Railroad for over 22 years.
Clyde liked the quiet, and was an avid fisher. His favorite place to fish was Rapjohn Lake. He also spent time fishing at American Lake, and off the docks in Downtown Tacoma. He also loved sports, and was a fan of the Seattle Seahawks and the LA Lakers. Most days he could be found in his backyard garage, tinkering with his inventions. He was loved by many people for his ability to care for others whether they were blood relatives or not. He could make anyone feel like family.
Clyde is survived by his wife Mary, daughters Detra Webster and Nakisha Sattelmaier, and son Terrance Littlejohn; sister-in-law Josephine Mcbeth and brother-in-law Willie Mcbeth; sons-in-law Allen Webster and George Sattelmaier; grandchildren Adrianna and Ron Roland, Jamari Littlejohn, Alicia Green, Miles Littlejohn, and Austin Sattelmaier; great grandson Elijah Roland; god children Demetria Hawkins, Charmaine Hampton, Genine Green, Sharie Ramos, and Juanita Amora; sister Shirley Gist, and brother T.K. Littlejohn and his wife. He was predeceased by his children Robin Littlejohn and Clyde E. Littlejohn Jr. He is survived by many more nieces and nephews, friends, and extended family from throughout the United States, including Washington, California, South Carolina, and Georgia.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 9, 2018 from 11AM-8PM.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018 beginning at 10 a.m. and reception will follow at Mountain View Funeral Home in the Aspen Chapel at 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood, WA 98499.
Burial service will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 beginning at 1:30 p.m. at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St, Kent, WA 98042
