Clifton M. Moore's Obituary
Clifton M. Moore, born June 10, 1925 in San Antonio TX, died near his home in Tacoma, WA on June 26, 2010. At the age of 85, his passing brings to an end, a life filled with laughter, hard work and love. He had a passion for building things, for working in his yard and playing pinochle. Each of these joys in his life gave us a piece of him that won't be forgotten. Cliff served honorably in the military for over 20 years with tours in the South Pacific during WWII, Europe and the United States throughout his career. In addition to his military career he also retired after 20 years with the US Postal service. As an avid fisherman and hunter, he treasured the many relaxing hours he spent on the water or in the woods. Although he had good success in these sports, the 50-pound salmon he wanted so badly still swims free. Cliff is survived by his wife of 62 years, Kitty, his daughter Karen Teague, his son, Randy Moore, five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and his sister Dorothy Mae. Although he once received an award for being "always happy, always smiling," he referred to himself as "ornery."
A memorial service will be held in the Mountain View Garden Chapel at 3:00pm on Friday, July 9, 2010. Following the memorial service, there will be full military honors at the gravesite. Instead of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to the Humane Society of Tacoma & Pierce County at 2608 Center Street, Tacoma, WA 98409 (www.TheHumaneSociety.org ) or the Disabled Veterans of America at PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250 ( www.DAV.org ).
