Gone Fishing
Clifford Ware, 86, of Tacoma passed away peacefully in his home with his family January 7, 2017,after a battle with cancer and various health conditions, late in his life. He was born October 25, 1930 in Buckhannon, West Virginia. He retired at the rank of Master Sergeant having served 20 years with the Army and two years with the Air Force and was always quick to tell his many stories of his time in the military, or on leave, with sharp wit and detailed memories.. Later in life, he worked in many capacities from truck driver to mechanic, until he finally retired to his favorite job and what he enjoyed most – packing up the trailer and heading to the lake for a summer, then moving on to the woods for hunting season. Cliff is survived by his wife of over 30 years, Margaret Ware. He is also survived by his sister Dorothy of West Virginia, four son’s David, Doug, Duane, and Ernie and five daughter’s Debra, D’Ann, Wendy, Janie, and Sherry, 23 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Cliff left West Virginia and joined the Air Force as a teenager. Two years later, he switched to the Army. He served in the Korean and Vietnam wars including three tours of duty in Vietnam. He was awarded several medals of commendation including his highest achievement, the Bronze Star. After finally retiring from working, he spent much of his time fishing at Mineral Lake and hunting in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest with his many friends and family. Throughout his life, he also enjoyed both participating in and watching sports, he loved to dance, a John Wayne movie, a football game, and a good hug. His voice, his wisdom, and his presence are deeply missed. His love for the outdoors and competitive sports has been passed on through the generations to his children and their children.
