Clifford "Maggie" Magnussen's Obituary
Clifford “Maggie” Magnussen, 84 of Tacoma, passed away at home on February 13th after a long battle with cancer. His wife Joanne “Jo” Magnussen, 84 of Tacoma passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital on March 22, 2021 from a long hospital stay with the diagnosis of TTP which is a rare blood disorder. They were married on September 26, 1956 in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho.
Clifford was born on November 5, 1936 to the late Michael & Clara Magnussen of Tacoma, Washington. He was the youngest of 3 siblings. His 2 brothers, Clarence and Roy Magusssen preceded him in death.
Joanne was born on March 16, 1937 to the late Jack & Anne Wooten of Grapeview, Washington. She was the oldest of 4 siblings. She is survived by her 2 siblings Rick Wooten of Grapeview, Washington and Wendy Marx of Allyn, Washington. Gary Wooten preceded her in death.
Clifford joined the Navy on December 8, 1953 and served on the USS Blackfin 322 and retired as a recuiter. He retired on September 30, 1980 as a Master Chief. After retirement he went to Bates Vocational School for carpentry then had his own finish carpentry business “Norwegian Wood”. He was an active member of the Sons of Norway Norden 2 lodge and was active in his families ancestry.
Joanne was able to stay at home with her 2 girls until they graduated from school. She then worked as a nutritionist at a care facility in Tacoma, Washington. Joanne was extroidarny at cross-stitch and the fine work of Hardanger embroidery. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and raising orchids
They are survived by daughter Debra Adamson of Lebanon, Oregon; daughter Janeen Holman (Stacy) of Gig Harbor; grandchilden; Jason Adamson (April) of Lebanon, Oregon, Aric Adamson (Vanessa), Clarice Holman and Ryan Holman of Tacoma, Washington and great grandchildren; Mikal, Aiden, Emily and Lucas of Lebanon, Oregon.
A memorial service will be held at a later date
