To the Matteson Family, I was so sorry to hear of Cliff's passing. In the short number of years that I knew Cliff, I was always amazed at his passion for life and pursuing his love of the outdoors. Year after year seeing him do the things that he loved most was a great example to me of "living in the now".
From early on after meeting Cliff, I always got a kick out of seeing and hearing how he figured out the easiest and cheapest ways to catch fish. He was a master! Whatever he did, he gave it his 100% and was always willing to share his knowledge and life long learning with all. I have fond memories of many hours I spent in Cliff's boat learning from him and sharing our "fishing" stories; I only regret not taking him up on the many other offers to learn new things from him. He wanted to take me panning for gold and on some of his rock finding trips. Cliff's passing is a great reminder for me to live in the moment. Take advantage of the opportunities to spend time around some of the great men that Heavenly Father places in our paths.
I listened to his concern as a father, a husband and grandfather for his family, and I know that he had only the best hopes and dreams for each one of you.
Cliff was also a great example to me of not being caught up in the worldly distractions of life. I got many great chuckles at his "inventions" that he would come up with. His ingenuity never ceased to amaze me and make me laugh at the same time.
I have no doubt that Cliff will be missed by his family and countless others. His positive influence and laughter was contagious. I know that I was blessed by knowing Cliff and spending time with him. Cliff will leave behind a great legacy of service and love. I will miss his smile and laughter and memories of some great fishing trips (not to mention his GREAT smoked salmon) May your family be blessed and have an extra portion of his Spirit to be with them for comfort at this difficult time saying goodbye. What a comfort it is to know that we can always be reunited with our loved ones again someday through God's plan of Happiness for us.
Cliff, I love you and will miss you my Friend.
Until we meet again….
