Cleo Luella Hunter's Obituary
Cleo L. Hunter was born in Puyallup, WA, on April 10, 1917 and passed away in Tacoma, WA, on May 25, 2007.Cleo is survived by her four children, Hazel (Gary) Pitre, James (Sharyn) Sellers, Patricia (Dennis) Firth, Claudia (Michael) Richardson, and four step-children, Sue (Ferdie) Matos, Peggy (Norris) Sjostrom, Rick (Ruth) Hunter, and Dan (Heidi) Hunter. She is also survived by 12 grandchi1dren, 9 step-grandchildren, 25 great-grandchi1dren, 4 step great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by half-brother Jack (Agnes) McLin.She was a member of the TACOMA FIRST CHURCH OF GOD for 55 years, where she served as Sunday School Superintendent and Sunday School Teacher for many years.During WWll, at the age of 25, she was a member of the TACOMA CIVILIAN DEFENSE CORPS and was appointed Welfare Warden in Precinct 84. She was also active in the WASHINGTON STATE P.T.A. She served as President of the Edgemont P.T.A. from 1961, 1962 and the Sumner P.T.A. from 1961-1963.She took great pride in her work. She worked at the RHODES DEPARTMENT STORE in downtown Tacoma in the position of Manager of Better Dresses, and Bridal Consultant, where in this position she was privileged to help dress the DAFFODIL PRINCESES. When RHODES later moved to the Tacoma Mall as Liberty House and later Frederick & Nelson, she continued in the position of Manager of Better Dresses. When Frederick and Nelson closed and she ,"retired," she went to work as Hostess for the TACOMA ELKS CLUB where she worked until she really retired at the age of 85.She loved her children, grand-children, great grand-children, and great, great grandchildren very much. Each and everyone would have special stories to tell about wonderful times spent at family picnics, trips to the ocean, Birthdays, and especially Christmas at Mother,'s and Grandma,'s house. She is loved and missed by all.The family would like to THANK EVERYONE who lovingly cared for her during the last two years at Laurel House, Heartwood Extended Health Care, St. Joseph Hospital, and Franciscan Hospice House. Surely the Franciscan Hospice House People must be especially gifted from God to give the care they give to the patient and family in the last days of life. In lieu of flowers gifts may be made to Franciscan Hospice House, 2901 Bridgeport Way West, University Place, WA 98466.Visitation will be held from 3 ,- 8:30 PM on Tuesday, May 29, 2007, and from 9 ,- 11:30 AM on Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at Mountain View Funeral HomeFuneral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, May 30, 2007 in the Mountain View Celebration of Life Center with reception to follow.
