Clayton Howard Harris' Obituary
Clayton Howard Harris was born on October 17, 1919, in Tillamook, Oregon, to Howard and Mabel Harris. He worked as a logger in Oregon and had started fishing when he joined the U.S. Navy in 1941, working as a MachinistÂ's Mate First Class on the U.S.S. Wren. After Honorable Discharge in December of 1945, he was a commercial fisherman out of Alaska until 1965, and then worked for Boilermakers in Tacoma, Washington. He owned and operated Spanaway Stables from 1980 until 1991, and Aluminum River Boats until his retirement. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Tacoma, and gave generously to the work of World Vision. Clayton was predeceased by his wife Alice and son Kenneth, and his brothers Orville, Leland, and Cecil. He is survived by his wife Delores, son Michael, daughters Jill, Rosalyn and Rosemary, granddaughters Chloe and Rosemary Anne, great-grandson Rusty, and sister Thelma.A memorial service will be held in the Garden Chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home and Memorial Park at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 17, 2005. A reception will follow in the Celebration of Life Center.
