Claude Henry Legacy
Claude H. Legacy answered his final alarm on August 16, 2012. Claude was born on September 18, 1927, to John Henry Legacy and Martha Brame. With the exception of military service, he was a lifelong resident of Lakewood. His life was spent in service to others through working for the Lakewood Fire Dept. achieving the rank of Captain. Claude was the first president of Local 1488 for the International Association of Fire Fighters. His spare time was spent with the Masonic Order and held several leadership positions in the Lakewood Court of the Order of the Amaranth. Claude's military career encompassed two campaigns. He served in the Air Force at the end of the World War 2 including the occupation of Japan and he was recalled from the reserves to serve during the Korean Conflict.
Claude was happiest when he was busy and he got the most enjoyment from cutting, splitting, and stacking firewood, (-Å"Bark Up-) for the winter. When the wood shed was full, he felt he's done his best to provide for Gloria's comfort.
Claude is survived by Gloria his wife of 62 years, and three children, Steven residing in Elma, Kathy (Roy) Kadow living in Roy, and Deanna (Joe) Rodaway of Lakewood. Claude also has four grandchildren Keith and Rebecca Rodaway, and Jeffrey (Kara) and Sean (Mariah) Kadow; and two great granddaughters. Also included are sisters Betty Guttu of Spanaway, Brenda Varriano of Camano Island, Dot Nita Smith of Jacksonville, OR and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 23, 2012 in the Mountain View Valley Chapel 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood, WA with a reception to follow. .
