Clark Leon Johnson's Obituary
Clark Leon Johnson, age 81 of Puyallup, WA passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, November 28, 2019 after a long period of declining health. Clark was born on April 25, 1938 in Idaho Falls, ID to the late John Clark Johnson and the late Marjorie Aurelia Johnson (Jones), the eldest of 7 sons. He was raised in Driggs, ID, and moved to Salmon, ID in 1945. Clark loved to fish and hunt in his younger years, he was also an amazing craftsman at woodworking projects.
Clark served in the U.S. Forest Service as a young man, spending months alone in a fire lookout tower in Idaho. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1967, a brave soldier serving 3 tours of duty in Vietnam, and 1 tour in Germany. He was certified in Airplane and Aircraft Maintenance, and served as Supervisor for his crew to keep badly needed aircraft flyable with minimal downtime. Clark was honorably discharged as a Specialist 6, with many medals. Clark moved to Washington State in 1967 to work for Boeing as an Aircraft Mechanic for Models 707 and 727 on the flight delivery line. In 1969, he went to work for Kaiser Aluminum, were he retired from after over 30 years as a line Foreman. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Clark was preceded in death by wife Iris (Waggoner) in 2013, son Jared in 1993 and grandson Tyler in 2011.
Surviving Mr. J (as he was lovingly referred to by his Mrs. J), son Thomas of Olympia, WA, daughter Connie and husband Doug Kittelman of Puyallup, WA, son Samuel of Tacoma, WA, son Steven and wife Niohleen of Beaverton, OR, son David and wife Erin of Roy, WA, and grandchildren Dustin, Amber, Lauren, Joseph, Alyssa, Jared, Chandler, Whitney, Nathan, Xavier, Emily, Jamison, Cabriel, Ellen, Sterling, Gideon and great grandson Asher. Leon as he was known to by his family is also survived by his 6 brothers Richard (Rosalie: deceased), Grant (Karen), Vaughn (Doris), Keith, James (Susan) and John (Annette) and many nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 6th, 2019 at 1 pm at the Mountain View Garden Chapel with Bishop Ryan Whitney officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain View Faith Gardens Cemetery, followed with luncheon reception in the Mountain View reception hall in the Oak Room. A family viewing will be held prior to the service, starting at 12:00 pm also in the Chapel.
