Clarine Dagmar Kvamme's Obituary
Clarine Dagmar (Wick) Kvamme
Clarine was born in Tacoma, WA to Harold and Dagmar Wick on Feb. 21, 1939. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her husband and all of her children on July 31, 2023 after a graceful and courageous three year battle with Parkinson’s.
Clarine was a lifelong Tacoma resident and graduated from Stadium High School in 1957. Her first job was as a telephone operator for Pacific NW Bell. Clarine married Reuben Kvamme on Valentine’s Day 1958 at First Assembly of God on S. 12th & G St in Tacoma. Clarine stayed home to raise her four children until she embarked on her career at Tacoma Community College. She was hired in 1972 as an admissions clerk and continued at the college until she retired in 1999 as the Office Support Supervisor for the Counseling Center. She was highly regarded for her sound judgement, integrity and quiet sense of humor.
Clarine loved spending time with her family and we all loved being with her. She had a way of making all her grandchildren feel special, and many of them refer to themselves as Grandma's favorite Grandchild! Clarine’s hobbies included boat camping, tending her rose garden, decorating for the holidays, trips to Cannon Beach, reading, traveling and hosting friends and family. Clarine and Reuben enjoyed being longtime members at the Tacoma Yacht Club. They attended First Christian Church for many years with their children. In later years they regularly attended University Place Presbyterian Church.
Clarine was known for her amazing smile and her ability to make all those around her feel special and loved. She had a loving, kind and generous spirit that was draped in grace and peppered with good natured mischief and fun.
Clarine is survived by her husband of 65 years, Reuben, her four children Lori (Kent) Salisbury, Dave (Sandy) Kvamme, Kathi (Ken) Wiebe, and Kari Caliguri (Kurt McQueen); and her grandchildren Katie Salisbury (James Halttunen), Amanda (Luke) Hutyler, Megan (Josh) de Leon, Jenelle Salisbury (John Hotz), Hayden (Kathryn) Kvamme, Bailey Kvamme, Lacey Kvamme, Veronica (Chad) Dwyer, Clayton (Hailey) Wiebe, Courtney Starr, Brandon Starr, Chelsea (Kyle) Walters, Austin Starr, Alexis McQueen, Kiley Caliguri, and Miranda Caliguri.
