Clara Valenta's Obituary
Clara Valenta, of Puyallup, WA. went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 10, 2010, at the age of 91. She was born in Tacoma, WA on September 22, 1918 to Katherine and Alexander Horst. She was a devout and loving Christian. Her life was a testimony to the love of Jesus and His command to love and serve others. She did volunteer work for the elderly and mentally ill and contributed to many charities. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Puyallup, WA. Clara was a loving wife and a proud mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She delighted in spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They brought a smile to her face that could light up any room.
She is survived by her 6 children: Nick (Diane) Engels, Karen Engels, Jon (Carol) Engels, Skip (Darlene) Engels, Kathy (Terry) Callies of Anchorage, AK and Penny (Vic) Boyer, 17 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. A sister, Pauline Rowan of Tacoma, a brother, John Horst of Bellingham and many nieces and nephews also survive her. She was proceeded in death by Nicholas John Engels, Nick Joseph Cimino, Joseph Valenta, JoAnn Engels, great grandchildren Nichole Marie and Paul Michael Engels, and sisters Catherine Allen, Irene Hardesty and brother Alex Horst.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on June 18 in the Garden Chapel at Mountain View Funeral Home, Lakewood. Visitation will be on June 17 from 2:00 to 9:00 pm. Memorials can be given to The Tree House at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital.
