Clara Denise Singleton (Bennett)
Clara was born on January 12, 1964 in Waterbury, Connecticut to Charles H. Benett, Sr. and Alma M. (Kinlow). Clara attended Black Rock Elementary and Grove Street Middle Schools in Thomaston, CT, Bucks Hill Middle School, in Waterbury, CT. She then relocated to Tacoma, WA where she attended Mason Junior High School, Henry Foss and Lincoln High Schools. She received her High School Diploma at the Victor Valley College while residing in Apple Valley with her husband Leslie Singleton III, who was serving in the Armed Forces at George Air Force Base in Victorville, CA. She and her husband raised two wonderful children, Marcus Leslie Singleton who was born October 3, 1990 and Azaliah Courtney Singleton who was born on November 16, 1994. Both of their children are dedicated to their parents and are both actively pursuing art careers. Marcus paints abstracts and Azaliah has her eye on Cordon Bleu Culinary Institute in Atlanta, Georgia.
In 2005, Denise was diagnosed with scleroderma and passed away peacefully on October 11, 2014 at the young age of 50.
She absolutely loved people and picking apart scripture. She had a continuous smile which was on her face even after her passing.
Clara was preceded in death by her sisters Rose Marie Wells, Vanessa Kay Johnson and her brother Charles H. Bennett, Jr. She leaves behind her husband Leslie Singleton, her two children Marcus and Azaliah, a host of true friends and relatives. She is also survived by her parents Charles and Alma, two sisters Sharlene A. Page and Vivian G. Calhoun, and her brother Daniel K. Bennett.
She made a positive impression on several nurses and doctors, she always kept her word. She will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Service for Clara will be scheduled at a later date.
