Clara Elma Myers
Clara Elma Myers, 97, long-time resident of Tacoma went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 22, 2008 Elma was born April 11, 1911 in Winchester, Idaho to Morgan and Clara Fox. She moved with her family to Tacoma in the early 1920's, and graduated from Stadium High School in 1929. While working in Mason City, Washington she met Floyd L. Myers who she married on April 16, 1939. The Myers family moved to Puyallup in 1941 and then to Tacoma in 1944. Elma worked for 17 years as a cashier in the Tacoma School District food services program at Jason Lee Jr. High, Stadium High and then Grant Elementary. After retiring, she continued working at Grant School as a teaching assistant in the English as a Second Language program. Elma was recognized for her volunteer efforts when she was presented with the City of Destiny Award in 1994. She was a charter member of Hope Covenant Church. Elma was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd and her youngest daughter, Rebecca R. Mullin. She is survived by Donald D. (Elizabeth) of Shelton, WA, David A. (Carol) of Pasco, WA, and Karen L. (Chris) O'Dell of Auburn, WA, and ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held December 27 at 10:00 am in the Aspen Chapel at Mountain View Celebration of Life.
