Clara M Christianson's Obituary
Funeral services for Clara Christianson, age 94, of Hettinger, ND, and Puyallup, WA, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 11, 2013 at the Hettinger Lutheran Church. Rev. Kathleen Dettmann will officiate with burial in the Hettinger Cemetery.
Serving as casketbearers are her grandchildren.
Clara Margaret Berg was born on February 15, 1919 in Hettinger, ND, the 8th of 9 children of Oscar and Ragna (Rolfson) Berg. She attended school in Hettinger and following her schooling began caring for her nieces and nephews.
She married the love of her life, Gerhard "Jerry" Christianson, on March 22, 1941 in Hettinger, ND. Clara was a stay at home mom, raising their four daughters, teaching them how to cook and bake as they grew older. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, needlework and especially loved her time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jerry passed away on May 31, 2000 and Clara continued to live in Hettinger, until moving to Puyallup, WA in 2009 to live with her daughter Ardell. While in Hettinger, Clara was a member of the Hettinger Lutheran Church and the Eagles Club.
Clara passed away on Monday, October 28, 2013 at her daughter's home in Puyallup, WA.
She is survived by her four daughters, Lynda (Irvin) Goetz, Westminster, MD, LaVonne Foss, Lemmon, SD, Ardell (Lew) Samdal, Puyallup, WA and Karen Fandrich, Hettinger, ND; eight grandchildren, Rhonda (Gary) Moon, Sandra (Rick) Lawrence and Robb (Michelle) Goetz, all of Maryland, Gary (Faye) Foss, Bismarck, ND, Rick Foss, Lemmon, SD, and Kristi, Kevin and Kelly Fandrich, all of Washington; six great-grandchildren, Gunnar Foss, Lemmon, SD, Thomas Foss, Bismarck, ND, Robbie Lawrence, Ally, Bret and Connor Goetz, all of Maryland; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry, seven brothers, Trig, Chris, Bill, Harry, Ralph and Bob Berg and one in infancy; one sister, Mamie Berg; and one son-in-law, Gary Foss.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to the start of the service at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 11, 2013 at the Hettinger Lutheran Church.
