Claire Roethler's Obituary
Our mother Claire Virginia Roethler passed away peacefully May 10th at the age of 89
after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Claire was born February 18
the 1934 in Tacoma and has lived here all her life.
Mom loved to laugh, loved her jazz, and especially loved her family. Her favorite fun
thing to do was to go boating in the Puget Sound, with special destinations to "Dead
Man's Island" or the "Rock." She worshiped the sun, and didn't mind having a beer or
two. In her younger days she was quite good at water skiing and could rock a ski outfit on
the slopes!
Mom was especially proud of her Swedish and Irish heritage, leaning much more to the
Swedish side. When young, she once traveled to Sweden by ship with her cherished
grandparents Hannah and Olaf. Mom was so beautiful that a couple of photographers
chased her down on the return voyage to take pictures of her that were eventually
published.
We will deeply miss our mom with her good nature, her infectious laugh, and especially
the way she loved us all.
Mom is survived by her husband of 69 years Gary, who with great determination, and
love took amazing care of her for many years. Her two daughters, Julie Finnegan,
Vanessa, Wolf, and of course number One son, Steve Roether (Janet). Mom also has two
beautiful granddaughters, McKenna (Josh) and Kassidy (Travis).
McKenna and Josh provided mom with three amazing great grandchildren, Capri, Nolan
and little Miss Mimi (Millie). Kassidy also has two wonderful children Dax and Max.
We love you mom and you will be forever in all of our hearts!
