Cicely Patricia Groff's Obituary
Cicely Patricia Groff was born on September 18, 1945 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on the morning of April 22nd 2015. Patty will be deeply missed by family and friends throughout the country. At 69 years of age she was a vibrant, caring person with a youthful mind and heart. She is survived by Larry, her husband of 31 years, her brother and Sister-in-law Ed and Kathy, her two children Craig and Michelle, her Son-in-law Steve, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also, her extended family is extensive. From her beloved step-mother Detta; sisters of her heart, to an adopted grandchild, she loved, and was loved by so many.
Patty, as she was known to family and friends, lived in Nevada for several years where she met and married her husband Larry Maddox. She had a career in both insurance and real estate, which was unfortunately cut short by her health issues. She struggled for most of her life with a myriad of health problems; some more challenging than others, but all who knew her would agree that she faced those challenges with incredible strength, unwavering bravery and determination.
She loved spending as much time as possible with her family; Patty was deeply devoted to her children and relatives. She was delighted when she and Larry were able to permanently locate in western Washington to be near her children and brother. She took pride in her family and was very happy to be able to see her grandchildren grow into adulthood, and experience being a great-grandmother. She deeply loved her brother and the special time she could spend with him. The opportunity to spend time with her niece Jenny and nephew Adam was very important to her; she loved being Aunt Patty just as much as she loved being Mom, and Grandma.
When she was no longer able to work, she poured her energy and creativity into her lifelong passion of Quilting. From small wall pieces to king sized spreads, she loved every bit of the process of concept, design and production.
Cicely Patricia Groff, you fought fiercely, loved completely, and you will be deeply missed by all those you touched and affected.
Please leave condolences and memories on the tribute wall.
