Christian Kirkman's Obituary
Christian Kirkman received an answer to his prayers at for Christmas and was been released from his pain. He passed away peacefully at home and went home to be with Jesus on December 24th. Christian was a lover of people, and was generous to any person in friendship and kindness, making friends with the people at his work, at school, at church, on the city bus and on the streets.
Chritian found much enjoyment from singing karaoke at Spuds and at the Flying Boots café, where he made himself a part of the community. He found great joy in teaching children at his church and sharing his Christian faith with them and with others around him. His chatter and his laugh were loud and happy, and he brought his own sort of quirky freedom and joy to the people he met.
Christian worked for DSHS for the past several years, and his intelligence served him well as he could memorize, track and organized data almost as fast as his own computer. He loved movies and trivia and was a knowledge buff, sharing useless facts about film, 70’s music and religion with anyone who would listen.
Christian found great enjoyment and satisfaction from his church, riding the bus for hours in great pain to make it to multiple services each week. He loved to serve, and even took his vacation time off just so he could volunteer with kids at Vacation Bible Study. Among his treasures was found a note from one of his students thanking him for his teaching. He loved ministering to those children, and treasured the time he was able to help them grow.
Christian was a father and grandfather, and spent the last 18 months of his life enduring intense pain so he could be a part of their lives. Anyone who knew him at all knew about his darlings, twin 18 month olds, Jack and Susan, and his beloved daughter Charity Rose who was the most precious and important person in his life.
Christian is also survived by his parents David and Patricia, to whom he ministered to through his last years. He spent time each day checking on his parents to see what they needed done for them, and gave them love and encouragement with his infectious laugh and his love of conversation and intellectual stimulation.
Christian is also survived by his sister Emily, his aunts Bonnie Morris and Char Taylor, and his nieces Purity and Trinity Dail.
Services will be held at Faith Presbyterian Church at 620 South Shirly Street, Tacoma Wa, 98465 on February 1, 2025 at 11:00 am.
